DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte
Everyone else is hating on Pumpkins, and telling me it is too early for fall while I am at home making my own Pumpkin Spice Latte.
To be fair, I live in Florida where it is nearly always too hot to be considered Fall. I do not have the luxury of waiting for season changes to tell me when it is appropriate to carve pumpkins and wear my boots. I just do it. I am also the girl who believes that Christmas starts as soon as the last Jack-O-Lantern candle is blown out on Halloween. That only leaves me two months to get my pumpkin on before it is all ho-ho-ho and jingle jangle. Looks like September first is pumpkin season after all!
Here is a quick easy recipe for a Basic White Girl Latte also known as Pumpkin Spice.
- 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 2 Tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 1 to 3 Tablespoons sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for topping
- 1/2 cup strong hot coffee
- Whipped cream for topping
Add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and the coffee.
Divide the mixture between two mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
I like to top mine with the tears of my haters and enjoy wrapped in a flannel blanket.
Happy Pumpkin Season!
Thanks, Inspired Taste for the recipe!
