Welcome to our rose colored Valentine!
I know that sharing my Valentine DIYs is not helpful more than a week after the day has come and gone but I’m going to share anyway. For the first time in years (three, to be exact) I was excited and prepared for Valentine’s Day. I attribute this happening to the absence of social media and slight boredom. Without spending the weeks leading up to Cupid’s Birthday up to my eyeballs in tasks and projects and online engagement, I wasn’t creatively burned out or slugging through one day at a time only to find myself working on last minute heartfelts.
For C’s class valentines, I found this adorable recipe for Cupid Chow and while it was easy to put together and the packaging was plastic free (go me!) the end result wasn’t as pretty as the inspo picture. But then, is it ever? C still enjoyed “helping” by “cutting the little hairs” whatever that was for… and the result was delicious!
For the past three years, I scrounged last minute for a teacher Valentine. I always like for my teacher gifts to represent C and me at least slightly but also be something his teachers might actually appreciate or at least be able to use. I think one year it was bottles of wine. Quelle classe.
Since the flu has been a big deal in school this year, I gifted them a bottle of hand soap and a flour-sack hand towel! I found a three pack of Mrs. Meyers on Amazon and had the new towels on hand from a past project.
Much to my surprise, Jon had a few tricks up his sleeve. He pulled a Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration and send multiple deliveries of goodies to my office that included two embarrassing bouquets of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a bear. Thankfully the giant bear was out of our price range or I would have had to haul one of those home too.
Cillian gave me a sweet card that I’m sure he wrote on all his own with hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries. I came home with dinner and hot doughnuts. We watched Valentine’s Day and talked about Cupid shooting people in the butt to make them get married. You know, the classic Valentine things. It really was a rose colored day.
Happy Post Valentine’s Day, from us.
A special shout-out and THANK YOU to Sugar Baby’s Cookies for making C the most popular kid in his class! I made that up. I have no idea, but he brought the cutest cookies to his class party!
